Section 37 of the Right to Information Act requires all State Institutions to proactively publish the information listed across 13 subsections at least once an year. Subsection (a) requires proactive disclosure regarding details of the functions, responsibilities, structure and duties of the State Institution.
The most common methods for disclosure by state institution include publication on the institution’s website or within their annual report. As part of a political processes monitoring activity carried out by the Association for Democracy in the Maldives (ADM), the websites and publications of 73 state institutions were monitored from 2021 through 2022. The results of the monitoring exercises are published in the report on State Compliance to the Mandatory Proactive Disclosure Requirements of the Right to Information Act [Law Number 1/2014] of the Maldives.
ADM continues to monitor and advocate for the proactive disclosure of information by state institutions. The proactive disclosure compliance of individual state institutions are available from the Project Zinmaadhaaru website.
